We’re all geared up for the fourth edition of The MMA Show, Canada’s only weekly mixed martial arts program and it just keeps getting better!
First up, my fellow Canadian UFC fans please take a deep breath and relax as UFC 97 has been given the go-ahead by the Quebec government to take place on April 17 in Montreal. We’ll have the in-depth coverage on that debacle as well as the latest and greatest news from around the mixed martial arts world.
UFC 95 will be taking place this weekend in jolly old England at the O2 Arena. Mauro will breakdown the best of the fight card so you’ll know who to watch for this Saturday. We’ll take a closer look at the main event featuring The Ultimate Fighter [TUF] season one winner Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez and TUF season two winner Joe “Daddy” Stevenson. And, we’ll also find out a little more on the undefeated submission specialist, Demian Maia.
In wake of two reality show stars squaring off in London, The Score’s resident MMA guru, Sid Seixeiro, will take a look at the success of some of the TUF alumni. Tune in to see where they’ve graduated to in the UFC or if they’ve dropped out completely.
In our Canadian corner segment this week we’ll feature Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native T.J. Grant. He’ll be making his UFC debut at UFC 97 in la belle province after amassing an impressive 13-2 MMA record thus far. The young man from the Maritimes will give us some insight on how he’s come so far and his plans to keep moving up the MMA ranks.
Now, our question of the week nicely ties in with UFC 95 with two TUF winners squaring off in the octagon. The TUF franchise has brought us some memorable fighters and slew of interesting matches. But it’s also shown a lighter, and albeit grosser side of these athletes. Personally, I’d rather know more about the mental and physical training as well as the personal issues that a fighter goes through…rather than watching them get drunk as skunks and drink each other’s urine. Has the show become simply America’s Next Top Model with fights instead of photoshoots? All filler, no killer? Or do you love it just the way it is, drama and all? So please tell us, what you would change about The Ultimate Fighter? Post your comments here in the blog and we’ll pick the best responses. Go on and get creative and astound us with your knowledge, insight or even your general ridiculousness
